January 26, 2009, was the beginning of the Million Step Challenge put on by the Riverside City Teachers Association. So Leslie, the girls and I begin almost every day with a 4 mile walk. I had already been walking faithfully at 3 miles per day, so really I was just stepping it up a little. ( You get it "stepping it up" just trying to be a little punny) This new video of hers is very aerobic and I really enjoy the work out. I love to get sweaty!!!
Although, I must admit that about two weeks ago, my leg and hip were feeling a little strained, so I eased up for a couple of days and didn't quite make my 12, 00o a day step challenge. The reason that I try to do 12,000 steps per day is that way I do not have to exercise on Sunday. I met my goal for the first three weeks, then I hit the wall with the leg and hip. Now I am back, but I had two weeks of only less than my goal. It is all OK, because I am in this for the long hall. We do not want any injuries. So the average should be 35 miles per week. I have now gone for 6 weeks and I have walked ....... drum roll please.......196 miles!!!! That's pretty impressive huh!!!

Leslie's 4 really big miles!!! It is great because she has you do a lot with your arms and a stretch band.
This is the infamous pedometer!! This day was the day that I walked with the third graders to the Heritage House Museum. We had a great time and had a lot of fun looking at a really old house with lots of really old cool things in it. Oh, some more good material for another blog topic!!!
So, I am just continuing on walking and staying pretty close to the South Beach way of eating. So far I have lost 8 pounds. Tomorrow is weigh in day, So we will see how I did this week.
Happy Walking!!!

Whew, I'm glad that you aren't trying to do 12000 miles per day, although if anybody could manage it you could! Walking is a great way to exercise especially for those with busy schedule! Keep up the great work.
